The method involves detecting immobilization of a motor vehicle by using a sensor (15), and detecting actuation of a service brake or a brake pedal (PF) by using a sensor (17). Actuation of a control button of a parking brake is detected by using a sensor (19). Reduction in pressure of a hydraulic device (8) of a brake actuator (1) is controlled in order to cancel hydraulic force exerted by the hydraulic device on a wheel of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a system for managing braking force applied by a brake actuator on a wheel of a motor vehicle in immobilization position.
