The method involves connecting a sleeve to a secondary shaft (11) meshed in receiver jaw clutches that are connected to a main shaft (8) in a turning phase, where the clutches have a beveled tooth comprising tooth sectors respectively form angles. An electrical machine (12) is controlled by a control unit (20) for inducing torque on the main shaft to produce rotation in a direction same as that of a vector resulting from natural drag torque of the main shaft. A steering wheel (10) is driven by the secondary shaft. An independent claim is also included for a gear box for a vehicle.
