The system has an electronic control unit (12) for detecting the running or halt of a hybrid motor vehicle (1) and comparing the power utilized by the vehicle with the electric power available in an electrical exclusively operating mode of the vehicle. An activation and deactivation unit (13) is activated by a conductor for activating or deactivating the electrical exclusively operating mode of the vehicle. The activation and deactivation unit is connected to the electronic control unit by a connection (14). An independent claim is also included for method for controlling a hybrid propulsion of the motor vehicle.
