A tracheo-oesophageal fistula catheter 14 comprises an elongate conduit 2 having a plurality of lumens (171 - 233, figs 3A - 3C and 7A - 7C), a mean of sealing the fistula (12, fig 4) comprising two elements 9, 16 placed either side of the fistula (12), an expandable balloon 7 attached to the conduit adjacent a distal end of the catheter 14 and in fluid communication with at least one lumen (171 - 173 and 221 - 223), at least one lumen (181 - 183 and 221 - 223) being a gastric lumen and extends the full length of the conduit 2, an wherein at least one the elements 9, 16 for sealing the fistula (12) comprises an expandable balloon 9 in fluid connection with at least one of the lumens (191 - 193 and 231 - 233). The other of the elements may comprise of a flange (8, fig 1) or another balloon 16 in communication with a further lumen (211 - 213). Fistula 12 comprises of a hole between the oesophagus (11) and the trachea (13). Each of the lumens (171 - 233) has an inlet 3, 4, 5, 15 each except for the gastric lumen (181 - 183 and 221 - 223) having a one way valve.
