PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a word-meaning giving device, a word-meaning giving method, a program, and a recording medium, which can furthermore improve analysis precision in word-meaning estimation. PSOLUTION: A feature quantity extraction section 62 extracts a feature quantity for a combination of words from the words contained in an input sentence in a natural language. A superordinate-meaning-class decision section 63 decides a superordinate meaning class expressing a superordinate concept of the word on the basis of the feature quantity. This allows the optimum superordinate meaning class corresponding to a target word to be estimated even if a meaning of the word itself is difficult to be estimated, and therefore, for instance, can estimate the meaning of the word even from less learning data with higher precision by estimating the meaning of the word and the meaning class.
