PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cathode material for a flashing discharge tube, easy to manufacture even with a discharge tube thinned down and an electrode downsized.;SOLUTION: The cathode material for a flashing discharge tube is made by impregnating holes of a porous sintered body produced with the use of metal powder for a sintered material made of high-melting-point metal such as tantalum and niobium with electron emission matters such as a cesium compound.
