PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode material for a flash discharge tube with reduction of a sputtering modulus, stabilization of the minimum light-emitting voltage, and prolongation of life aimed at.;SOLUTION: The cathode material for the flash discharge tube is made by impregnating a cesium compound into voids of a sintered body produced with the use of metal powder for a sintering material made of high-melting-point metal such as tantalum and niobium. The sintered body has a porosity of 28 to 36 vol.%, with a peak distribution state of pore diameters as measured by the mercury press-fit method within the range of 1.4 to 1.8 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
