PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially improve charge and discharge capacity in an electric double-layer capacitor, a redox capacitor, a lithium ion electrolytic capacitor, a lithium ion secondary battery and application devices thereof, for example, without spoiling output characteristics, charge and discharge efficiency and a cycle lifetime thereof, while providing them as large capacity energy storage devices. PSOLUTION: In the energy storage device including a positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte, 0.5-50 wt.% of at least one charged by doping/dedoping reaction selected from an aniline tetramer, an aniline tetramer derivative having a molecular weight of not less than 366 and less than 500, an aniline pentamer, and an aniline pentamer derivative having a molecular weight of not less than 457 and less than 500 is contained in the electrolyte.
