PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a warpage preventing member with a simple structure, capable of effectively suppressing warpage of a mounting board at the time of usage of an image reader, and the like, and which is easy to mount on its retention member at the manufacturing of the image reader, and the like. PSOLUTION: The warpage preventing member 2 prevents warpage of a mounting board 3 on which an image sensor 15c is mounted. The upper engaging part 21 is engaged with an upper cut 4g, arranged at an upper limb of a retention member 4 which holds the mounting board 3, and the lower engaging part 22 is engaged with a lower cut 4h, arranged at a lower limb of the retention member 4. Its body 20 is continuous with the upper engaging part 21 and the lower engaging part 22, and has a projection 20a. In a state in which the upper engaging part 21 and the lower engaging part 22 are engaged with the retention member 4, the projection 20a presses the mounting board 3 to the side of retention member 4, from the rear face opposite to the mounting face of the image sensor 15c on the mounting board 3.
