PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the thermal load to be processed by an air conditioner when the thermal load is high at the time of peak thermal load, or the like. SOLUTION: Air is supplied from an air conditioner into the ceiling space 14 so that heat can be stored in a slab facing the ceiling space. Return air from a room being air conditioned is introduced into the ceiling space through a ceiling side return air opening made in the ceiling 12 and return air having absorbed heat stored in the slab can be returned back to the air conditioner through an air conditioner side return air opening 29. A plurality of ceiling side return air openings 26A, 26B and 26C are provided, respectively, with return air side changeover dampers 27A, 27B and 27C for opening/closing these ceiling side return air openings. As the thermal load in the room being air conditioned increases, a controller 17 changeovers the opening operation of the dampers sequentially from a ceiling side return air opening at a position close to the air conditioner side return air opening to a ceiling side return air opening at a position remote therefrom.
