PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of safely constructing a drainage facility with excellent drainage-flow performance on a slope of high weathering soil, particularly, weathering soft rock soil without allowing a drainage to penetrate into or stagnate on an earth; and a water channel block used for the method.;SOLUTION: This method of constructing a drainage facility is performed on the slope 1 of the soil with high weathering tendency divided into two or more surfaces 1a, 1b by a small stage 1c formed midway in the vertical direction and forming a sloped surface having a small stage upper surface 2 reduced in height from the bottom side 2b toward the valley 2a side. Water channel blocks 3 of flat recessed shape in cross section are so vertically arranged in a boundary part 2c with the small stage upper sloped surface 1a that the valley side edges 4b of their openings 4 are disposed on the small stage upper surface.
