PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an economical burden on a user and to improve operability, in a fee settlement system and a fee settlement method automatically settling a use fee of a vehicle.;SOLUTION: This fee settlement system includes: a server 1 of a dealer receiving a use scheduled date, a vehicle number and credit information from the user 4 using the vehicle 7 via a network 3 and registering them; a vehicle number notification means of a tollgate 5 installed in a use position of the vehicle 7 of the tollgate 5 of a toll road, a parking lot 6 or the like, picking up an image of a license plate of the vehicle 7 by a camera, recognizing the vehicle number, and notifying the server 1 of the dealer; and a server 2 of a credit company executing a fee settlement process to the user 4 according to a request from the server 1 of the dealer. The server 1 of the dealer has a settlement request means collating the registered vehicle number with the vehicle number notified from the vehicle number notification means, and notifying the credit company of the use fee by the vehicle corresponding to the vehicle number on the basis of the credit information about the user in the case of accordance as a result of the collation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
