PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a user the effect of an improvement in grip feeling in a gripping part of a writing instrument and a coating implement, and the effect of a reduction in fatigue caused by long-time use.;SOLUTION: The gripping part (2) of a barrel (1) of the writing instrument (50) or the coating implement is provided with a grip (2a) using a gelatinous material (4) capable of maintaining an its own shape. An outer covering body (3) for covering the gripping part (2) of the barrel (1) is provided, and the gelatinous material (4) is positioned between the covering body (3) and the barrel (1) and brought into direct contact with the barrel (1). A centering member (40) for centering the covering body (3) with respect to the barrel (1) is provided between the covering body (3) and the barrel (1). The centering member (40) is provided with an opening (41) for making a space between the covering body (3) and the barrel (1) communicate with the outside of the space.
