PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type CVT controller capable of efficiently performing shift control of a toroidal type CVT.;SOLUTION: The controller includes an inclined rotation angular velocity approximation formula circuit 112 which calculates the inclined rotation angular velocity from the measured trunnion stroke x of the toroidal type CVT 110, the inclined rotation angle θ, and the output disc rotating speed ωo, and also a DRμmax calculation part 82 which calculates the rate of drop DRμmax of the maximum traction coefficient using the obtained inclined rotation angular velocity etc. The pressing force (end load) in the toroidal type CVT is controlled where the obtained DRμmax is taken into consideration.
