Disclosed is a piezoelectric oscillator having a reduced horizontal size and being capable of being mounted in a small area. The piezoelectric oscillator includes a first package (60) and a second package (35) which are firmly connected to each other such that the second package (35) is located on the first package (60). An oscillator circuit (61) is disposed in the first package (60), and a piezoelectric resonator (32) is disposed in the second package (35). The first package (60) includes a first lead frame (50) and a second lead frame (40). End parts of the first lead frame (50) are bent downward such that the bent portions at the lower end are exposed to the outside and serve as the first connection terminals (51 a, 52a, 53a, and 54a). The second lead frame (40) is placed on the first lead frame. End parts of the second lead frame (40) are bent upward so as to serve as second connection terminals (41 a, 42a, 43a, and 44a).
