PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric oscillator wherein the connection state of first and second packages can easily be viewed from the outside even after the first and second packages are connected, the inspection performance is enhanced, and improper connection can easily be found out and repaired.;SOLUTION: The piezoelectric oscillator is provided with: a first package 70 which includes therein a piezoelectric oscillation chip 32 and which is provided with an external terminal 37 connected to the exciting electrodes of the oscillator chip 32; and a second package 60 containing an oscillation circuit element 61. The first package is stacked on and fixed to the second package. The second package is formed by molding the oscillation circuit element connected to a lead frame with resin, a connection terminal and a mount terminal formed by the lead frame are exposed from the package, and the external terminal of the first package is exposed from a side face of the package.
