PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt conveying device for rotating an endless belt member stably at a fixed width-directional position by speedily locking width-directional movement of the belt member even when disturbance generating width-directional displacing force operates on the rotating belt member.;SOLUTION: The belt conveying device is equipped with the endless belt member which rotates while extended among a plurality of conveyor rolls, a detecting means of detecting the width-directional position of the belt member in rotation, a belt position correcting means of applying a correcting external force operating on the belt member along its width to correct the width-directional position of the belt member, and a correction control means of controlling the operation of the belt position correcting means by comparing the width-directional position of the belt member detected by the detecting means with a specified reference position; when it is judged that a new width-directional displacing force operates on the belt member, the width-directional reference position of the belt member is changed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
