The present invention provides a novel Kunitz-type inhibitor protein that exhibits a high inhibitory activity on the serine protease activity exhibited by human blood coagulation factor Xa. The protein has the amino acid sequence I: SKKRP DFCYL PADDG PCRAF IPSFY YNSTS NECNT FIYGG CYGNA NKFES MDECR KTCVA SA 62-derived Kunitz-type inhibitor protein bitoran D; PAVEG PCRAY IRSFF YNSTS NECEK FFYGG CYGNA NKFET RDECR KTCVA SA 63-derived Kunitz-type inhibitor protein bitoran V derived from the snake venom of Bitis arietans; and a variant protein thereof.
