TRANSGENIC PLANT HAVING TOLERANCE TO INTENSIFIED DRY. The present invention relates to the field of transgenic plants with novel phenotypes, especially plants with enhanced drought and pathogen resistance. Supplied are transgenic crop plants comprising integrated into their genome a chimeric gene, characterized in that said chimeric gene comprising an active transcriptional regulatory sequence in plant cells operably linked to a protein sequence encoding a protein having the sequence of SEQ ID NO : 3 or a protein at least 70% identical to SEQ ID NO: 3, or an orthologous protein or functional fragment thereof. In addition to intensified drought tolerance, transgenic plants may exhibit enhanced disease resistance and enhanced root structure.
