The present invention relates to an UGE1 gene derived from Chinese cabbage which can improve drought resistance, resistance to sugar toxicity, or yield in a plant body and uses thereof. A transformed plant which an UGE1 gene derived from Chinese cabbage was introduced to the inside of the plant had improved drought resistance and resistance to sugar toxicity and the yield was also certainly increased. Accordingly, an UGE1 gene of the present invention is used for enhancing drought resistance and resistance to sugar toxicity in plants, especially in crops and increasing yield at the same time.
