This invention relates to novel N-substituted dihydrobenzothiepino, dihydrobenzoxepino and tetrahydro benzocyclohepta indoles and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts showing selective estrogen receptor modulator activity. The present invention further relates to the processes for the preparation of pharmaceutically active compounds, their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and compositions of the principal aspect of the present invention. The compounds are represented by the general structure I as shown below.
