A system and a method for providing matrimonial services on a television channel is disclosed wherein in accordance with the present invention the profilees" are provided with various membership levels/tiers for capturing the essence of their profiles and for getting high "communication of interest" from the viewers of the channel. Moreover, the system includes an antecedent checking means which performs a thorough background check of the profilee and provides an antecedent check feedback report which provides full details and the track record of the profilee to eliminate fraud and to make the matrimonial system more authentic and reliable for finding suitable alliances.
