This invention relates to an improved process for preparation of crystalline SAPO-II type Non-Zeolitic Molecular Sieve comprising in the step of subjecting a reaction mixture wherein reaction mixture is prepared by adding phosphoric acid to an organic templating agent .containing carbon & nitrogen and aluminium isopr9poxide having an HSUB2/SUB0/ AISUB2/SUB0SUB3/SUB molar ratio of greater than 20, a reactive silicon dioxide having an average particle size of 10 to 30 nanometers, a sodium content of less than 0.03 wt% and bulk density of less than 0.1 g/ cc, said reaction mixture having a composition expressed in terms of mole ratios of (0.5-1.5) R : AISUB2/SUB0SUB3/SUB: (0.1-1.0) SiOSUB2/SUB : (0.9-1.2) PSUB2/SUB0SUB5/SUB : 20-100 HSUB2/SUBO to under crystallisation condition until crystals of non-zeolitic sieve are formed.
