The stick (1) has a reading lens (2) for use as a temporary reading aid, and fasteners for attachment of the stick to a finger (5) of a user's hand, where the stick is attached to the finger without hindering other activities of the hand. The finger attached with the reading stick is moved to an optimal reading position between an eye and an item to be read, when reading the item. The reading lens is provided with a lens chamber such that the reading lens in retracted position does not interfere with the hand.
