Method for increasing the storage capacity in plants, comprising the step of transformation of the plant cells with the coding DNA by a plant protein CDC27 selected from: a) one or more of the amino acid sequences selected from the group consisting of those given by SEQ ID NOS 5, 11, 13; or b) a functional analogue thereof, selected from one or more amino acid sequences having at least 90%, 95% or 98% amino acid identity with those of a), wherein 100 to 220 amino acids are deleted at the Nterminal of said CDC27 protein or functional analogue thereof.
