A diagnostic method for determining the binding capacity of cells such asplatelets or progenitors thereof in a biological samplecomprises passing the biological sample over an adhesive substrate immobilisedon a solid support under defined flow conditions and for atime sufficient to enable cells from the biological sample to bind to theadhesive substrate, and subsequently detecting cells bound to theadhesive substrate. The method may be used for detection in an individual ofthe presence of or risk of developing a condition or disorderinvolving cellular, particularly platelet, abnormalities.
