Mechanisms are provided to easily determining an indication of the amount oflight available at a growing locationover a given period of time. Such mechanisms may be used indoors or outdoorsand are designed so as to provide an easily readableand understandalbe indication of the amount of light available at a growinglocation either empirically or with reference to a referencecolor chart.
