The invention relates to a generator for producing hot and superheated water, substantially for fire fighting systems. The aim of the invention is to reduce the size of the generator, to increase a heating surface, to intensify heat exchange and to improve the reliability and the service life of the generator. The inventive generator comprises a cylindrical body provided with a burning unit, which is arranged on one side thereof, and with a chimney flue on the other side and a flat spiral coil pipe which has inlet and outlet ducts and is located inside the body. The coil pipe with the inlet and outlet ducts consists of two segments, the first of which is positioned on the side of the burning unit, is made in the form of a cylindrical helix and arranged in parallel to the body along the inner wall thereof. The second segment of the coil pipe is designed in the form of flat spirals which are coaxial to the body, arranged by pairs and have alternating right- and left-handed helixes, said second segment of the coil being located in the body on the side of the chimney flue and the outlet duct being connected to the first segment of the coil pipe.
