REAL-TIME WAVELET TRANSFORM METHOD AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEM FOR MULTI-DIMENSIONAL DATA

The invention relates to a method for the conversion of multi-dimensional raw numerical data corresponding to points forming a 2D or 3D image of unknown size and to an associated system. The method comprises the following steps: the dimensioning of a multi-dimensional window for scanning the image, as a function of the size of a buffer memory; the scanning of the image, comprising the movement of the window in the image along the axes of the image; and, at each position of the window in the image, (i) the acquisition and loading into the buffer memory of data from the part of the image defined by the window; (ii) the multi-dimensional wavelet transform calculation-based conversion of the loaded part, using at least one compact support filter in order to generate low- and high-frequency coefficients, and (iii) the saving of the generated coefficients. The invention is intended for wavelet transform during the course of medical or seismic image acquisition.
