In the method for the fracture recognition of a resistive sensor (1) in a Wheatstone bridge circuit, the resistive sensor (1) is connected in series to a pre-resistor (2). The series connection is applied to a supply DC voltage (UP), a corresponding exciter voltage (UE) being applied to the resistive sensor (1) and a corresponding pre-resistor voltage (UV) being applied to the pre-resistor (2) in accordance with the resistance ratio of pre-resistor (2) to resistive sensor (1). The exciter voltage (UE) or the pre-resistor voltage (UV) is compared to a predefined comparative voltage (US). In the event of a fracture of the resistive sensor (1), a fracture message (FM) is output, if a fracture-related change of the exciter or pre-resistor voltage (UE, UV) exceeds a predefined maximum voltage deviation (dU).
