The vehicle has a journal shaft (42) that can be shifted into a driven and a non-driven state under electronic control, an electronically controlled journal shaft brake (40), at least one sensor (48) for detecting the speed of the vehicle and an electronic control unit (44), which is configured to deactivate the journal shaft brake when the vehicle is stationary and the journal shaft is not being driven so that the journal shaft can be turned manually when not being driven and the vehicle is stationary. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a journal shaft brake of an agricultural vehicle.
