The method involves providing storage devices in which transmitters and transmitter areas (22, 24) such as regions of a country are stored. A route process is provided, and a correlation is provided between the route process and the stored areas, which lie in a range of the route process and select the transmitter based on the areas, so that less number of transmitters is provided for covering the route process. The route process is sectioned into individual segments (a', b', z'), and the area is selected, where the area has largest associated part at segments of the route process. An independent claim is also included for a device for selecting a transmitter depending on a given route process.
