A method for the adaptation of the control parameters of a drive controller to changed operating conditions is described. A control loop (2) contains a PID - controller (1) for which the Integral Gain (Ki) is adapted to the drive speed (v) and/or for which the Derivative Gain (Kd) is adapted to a drive current (Imess) and thus to a drive load. The Integral Gain (Ki) is determined on the basis of the drive speed (v, v'), and the Derivative Gain (Kd) is determined on the basis of the drive current (Imess, l'mess) such that, at least within a certain range in each case, the Integral Gain (Ki) falls with the drive speed (v, v1), and the Derivative Gain (Kd) rises with the drive current (Imess, l'mess).
