A computer system including a font making program, a computer system having a vector screen font file and a recording medium in which the font making program is recorded are provided to apply a hinting technique to a complex character by solving problems of the Adobe cooperation or the MS cooperation, thereby obtaining a font having high readability. A framework is with regard to each character comprising a set of fonts. The number of units for dividing the framework to make the ratio of an em-size character and a stem to the character an integer is determined in the frame work of a font. A vector screen font file includes vector information with regard to each character comprising a set of fonts and hinting information. The number of units for dividing the framework to make the ratio of an em-size character and a stem to the character an integer is determined in the vector screen font file.
