A method for evaluating the quality of Oenanthe javanica using an Oenanthe javanica hydrothermal extract or n-BuOH fraction thereof is provided to ensure the alcoholic hangover relief and hepatotoxicity inhibition. A quality of Oenanthe javanica is evaluated by performing a hydrothermal extraction of an Oenanthe javanica and selecting a marker for evaluating the quality of Oenanthe javanica. The marker for evaluating the quality of Oenanthe javanica is L-tryptophan which is a compound extracted from an n-BuOH fraction of the hydrothermal extraction of Oenanthe javanica. A method for extracting the Oenanthe javanica comprises: a step of repeatedly extracting a dried Oenanthe javanica with a MeOH at a room temperature three times for two days; a step of concentrating a solvent. A method for manufacturing the n-BuOH fraction of the Oenanthe javanica hydrothermal extract comprises: a step of suspending the Oenanthe javanica extract in 90% MeOH; a step of extracting the extract with an n-Hex to obtain an n-Hex fraction; a step of concentrating the MeOH fraction; a step of adding a distilled water into the concentrate to obtain a suspension; a step of adding the same amount of methylene chloride into the suspension to obtain t methylene fraction; and a step of extracting with an ethyl acetate and n-BuOH.
