PURPOSE: An efficient square root/inverse square root calculator structure for realizing a digital circuit and a method thereof are provided to reduce the size of a reference table by using the Taylor expansion and a partial linear interpolation method. CONSTITUTION: An efficient square root/inverse square root calculator structure for realizing a digital circuit comprises a binary input value of a floating point or fixed decimal point, a reference table(300) and an operator(400). The floating point consists of an exponential part and fraction which are biased with a code. The fixed decimal point includes an integer. The reference table and operator include the binary input value of the fixed decimal point.
