Novel antimicrobial peptide and its application derived from echiuroid worm, Urechis unicinctus

An antibiotic peptide derived from Urechis unicinctus, and a pharmaceutical composition containing the antibiotic peptide are provided to obtain excellent antibacterial and fungicidal activity without cytotoxicity. An antibiotic peptide derived from Urechis unicinctus has an amido acid sequence represented by the sequence number 1. Also the antibiotic peptide derived from Urechis unicinctus has an amido acid sequence represented by the sequence number 2. Preferably the peptide shows an antibacterial activity against the germ of Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecum, Streptococcus mutans, Escherichia coli 0-157, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Vibrio vulnificus, Candida albicans, Trichosporon beigelii, and Malassezia furfur.
