A method and a system for temperature control when a thermal load increases in a stave blast furnace are provided to prevent thermal expansion and contraction of staves, thereby prevent cracking of the staves by preventing temperature of a stave blast furnace from increasing, thereby preventing wear of staves due to dropping of charging materials. A system for temperature control when a thermal load increases in a stave blast furnace(1) comprises stave cooling water flow control valves(72), refrigerator cooling water flow control valves(71), a drain temperature controller(77), and a flow controller(76). The stave cooling water flow control valves are connected between a water supply line(11) of the stave blast furnace and a stave pump(20). The refrigerator cooling water flow control valves are connected between the water supply line and a refrigerator(70). The drain temperature controller controls drain temperature by opening the refrigerator cooling water flow control valves. The flow controller controls the flow rate of supply water by closing the stave cooling water flow control valves.
