The application of the glycoprotein-concentrated fraction from Ulmus davidiana as a component of the cosmetics

PURPOSE: An extract fraction of an elm tree which inhibits the formation of dopachrome, scavenges peroxy free radicals and proliferates fibroblast is provided. The extract has whitening effects, antioxidant effects and wrinkle removing effects and can be applied to a cosmetic composition. CONSTITUTION: An elm tree(Ulmus davidiana Planch. var. japonica Nakai) is added to 2 to 15 times of a solvent and filtered after soaking for 2 weeks to 2 months to separate a supernatant. Thereafter, the supernatant is precipitated with 25 to 60% by weight of ammonium sulfate and subjected to chromatography. A cosmetic composition contains 0.1 to 10% by weight of the extract fraction of the elm tree which is particularly a glycoprotein having a molecular weight of 14 to 140kDa, a viscosity of 55 to 80d/g, a melting point of 90 to 100deg.C and a pH of 6 to 7.
