PURPOSE: A system and a method for diagnosing abnormality of finish rolling are provided to diagnose whether thickness quality of a work is normal or not using a numerical formula model for displaying control and physical phenomena based on all setting data and real-time data and database built based on operation experience. CONSTITUTION: The system for diagnosing abnormality of finish rolling comprises an SCC (supervisory computer control) setting part(210) for impressing target set values including target thickness, target load, roll speed and roll gap; an actually measured data collection part(211) for collecting actually measured data; an output side thickness meter load on judging part(212) for judging whether an output side thickness meter is load on or not and starting diagnosing whether finish rolling is normal or not if the output side thickness meter is load on; an evaluation division judging part(213) for dividing the top end part, tail end part and summit part using thickness data; an on-gauge ratio operation part(214) for operating on-gauge ratio in the respective regions of the top end part, tail end part and summit part using the data collected from the actually measured data collection part and target values set in the SCC setting part; first abnormality judging part(217) for judging whether the respective regions of the top end part, tail end part and summit part are normal or not from output values of the actually measured data collection part and the on-gauge ratio operation part; and second abnormality judging part for judging whether operator is to be involved or not, whether a work is normal or not, whether facility is normal or not and whether control is normal or not using the output value of the actually measured data collection part and the target value set in the SCC setting part.
