FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physical methods of determining structure of free molecules based on the geometrical theory of diffraction of a monochromatic beam of fast electrons at the "point" volume of a molecule of analysed substance, and can also be used for determining structure of short-lived radicals, clusters and analysing molecule and ion beams. The device for determining molecular structure using electron diffraction method, which forms a diffraction region, comprises an evaporator with a chamber for the analysed substance with a vapour outlet slit with possibility of formation of a cone-shaped electron beam. The chamber and the slit are annular. The evaporator is placed with possibility of passage of an electron beam through the centre of the annular slit perpendicular its plane. The method of using the device for determining molecular structure involves heating the substance to temperature at which the mean free path of the molecules exceeds dimensions of the chamber of the evaporator.;EFFECT: design of an efficient method of determining molecular structure using electron diffraction method.;3 cl, 2 dwg
