FIELD: shipbuilding.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control movement of sea vessels and is meant for remote sensing alignment of the steering wheel of a sea vessel from two-dimensional (angle-distance) radar observations with the objective of providing for safe sea traffic to prevent collision of head-on vessels. The invention is based on an established physical fact, according to which maximum acceleration of the rotational component of the motion of the vessel coincides with the alignment (installation in one of the extreme positions) of the steering wheel of the vessel. According to the proposed method, information on the decision taken by the navigator to move the vessel into circulation (on alignment of the steering wheel) is generated in a system for controlling movement of vessels as a result of constant radar monitoring of the angular acceleration of the geometrical vector, joining two maximally spaced out local sources of radar echo signals, chosen from a number available on the stern and ship's head. The local sources are made from different superstructures, which provide for stable radar echo signals.;EFFECT: monitoring angular acceleration of the said vector, the maximum of which coincides with the end of aligning the steering wheel of a sea vessel, allows for remote sensing alignment of the steering wheel of the vessel using the system for controlling traffic of vessels, ie record at the earliest stage, transition of a vessel into circulation and take timely and effective measures to warn of collision of head-on vessels.;6 dwg
