The method involves generating a three-dimensional tomographic volume data record of an object under examination with vessel-like internal structures. A segmentation enhancing the vessel-like structures in the representation of the tomographic data is carried out using the generated tomographic volume data record. Determined probabilities are used as criterion for the presence of a vessel in the segmentation process for the representation of vessel structures. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a tomography system comprising a computer system for editing tomographic image data records (2) a computer readable medium including program segments for causing a computer device to implement the method.
