The method involves determining a filter via test projections and an iterative reconstruction technique using an identical spatial arrangement of an x-ray source (11), a detector (13) and a test object such as wire. The optimum filtering and back projection of a projection data of the test object are carried out. An object (18) such as patient is scanned in an angular range lesser than 180 degrees and the projection data is determined. The tomographic representation of an object is reconstructed using the determined projection data and filter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) tomographic unit for reconstruction of tomographic representation of object; and (2) computer readable medium storing instructions for reconstruction of tomographic representation of object.
