The device (1) has a substrate (3), which is formed transparently. An immersion fluid (11) is placed on the substrate and below the transparent substrate. The immersion fluid has a refractive index similar to substrate and is embedded in the nano-particles (41,42,43). An illumination source (9) is provided for lighting a particle lying on the substrate by radiography of the transparent substrate and an inverted optical system arranged on the substrate for receiving the backscattering light (13) of the nano-particle.
