The method involves illuminating an object in the lighting device having a central light beam (Z) and a peripheral light beam (P), and that after passage of the object is illuminated beam (Z, P) in the lens or immediately behind, a part of the beam (Z, P) is reduced with a light absorbing element. An independent claim is included for a lighting apparatus.
