The method for hot metallizing gabions with a liquid zinc-aluminum-alloy, comprises heat treating the gabions or its part in an oven (1) with a reduced gas atmosphere containing hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide at 550-800[deg] C, immersing the heated gabions or its part in the liquid zinc-aluminum-alloy by a nozzle (2) flowing under the surface of the alloy bath, removing the gabions or its part from the liquid zinc-aluminum melt (4) and then cooling by air. The zinc aluminum alloy comprises an aluminum content of 3-65 wt.%, and a eutectic composition. The method for hot metallizing gabions with a liquid zinc-aluminum-alloy, comprises heat treating the gabions or its part in an oven (1) with a reduced gas atmosphere containing hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide at 550-800[deg] C, immersing the heated gabions or its part in the liquid zinc-aluminum-alloy by a nozzle (2) flowing under the surface of the alloy bath, removing the gabions or its part from the liquid zinc-aluminum melt (4) and then cooling by air. The zinc aluminum alloy comprises an aluminum content of 3-65 wt.%, and a eutectic composition. The zinc-aluminum-alloy is lead-free and is saturated in iron. The gabions removed from the zinc-aluminum-melt are blown-off by a condensed gases or gas mixture. The nozzle is connected with the oven and consists of reduced gas atmosphere containing hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide. The zinc-aluminum-alloy has a temperature of 420-600[deg] C. An independent claim is included for hot metallized gabions.
