The sensor has a testing circuit (AU) bringing a diaphragm to deflection by magnetic fields and evaluating a measuring signal (MS) as a result of the deflection. The testing circuit releases a signal subjected to the evaluation, where the signal indicates a functional efficiency of the diaphragm. Electromagnets (MA) are provided for generation of the magnetic fields. The diaphragm is partially metallized such that the diaphragm is moved under the influence of the magnetic fields. The testing circuit is provided for inducement of alternating magnetic fields. An independent claim is also included for a method for tesing a gas pressure sensor.
