Brake assembly e.g. electrical parking brake, for vehicle, has torque presetting device to transmit signal to control unit when actuator overrides mechanical testing torque, where control unit calculates brake torque
The assembly (1) has an electric motor (3) i.e. direct current motor, for activating and deactivating a wheel brake (2). The motor is connected with the wheel brake via an actuator (6) i.e. gear rack. A control unit (4) controls the motor and is connected with a mechanical testing torque presetting device (5). The device transmits a signal to the control unit when the actuator overrides a mechanical testing torque (M1). The control unit calculates brake torque based on the testing torque and a measured variable e.g. motor current, of the motor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for calculating brake torque of a brake assembly for a vehicle (2) a device for calculating brake torque of a brake assembly for a vehicle.
