A tensioning system (30) operates as a hydraulic tensioning system and has a casing (32), into which a compression spring (21) is integrated. The compression spring is supported with a first spring end (21a) on a system (38) assigned to a pressure chamber (34) and with a second spring end (21b) on a piston's (33) ring disk (39). Sliding linearly in the casing, the piston inserts into the pressure chamber while sealed on an end side. An independent claim is also included for a traction driving mechanism for an internal combustion engine with a starter generator and a tensioning system.
